why accredit

The Fund provides grants to a wide range of projects among GCF tropical forest member states. To be eligible to receive funding, institutions within GCF member states must be accredited to the GCFF.

Institutions accredited to the GCFF are eligible to apply for funding. By achieving full accreditation, institutions will have demonstrated that they possess the well established capacity to fully administer and manage projects funded by the GCFF. Once accredited, institutions must work in partnership with jurisdictions to develop projects and activities for their proposals during the GCFF’s Request for Proposals. It is important to note that although accreditation enables institutions to apply for funding, it is not a guarantee of funding.

The following institutions are encouraged to apply for accreditation:

Non-governmental organizations with non-profit status

Public or private universities or research institutions

Governmental institutions
